鲜鱼口成市于明朝正统年间，是北京著名胡同之一，已有570多年历史。由前门大街进口一直到东口崇文门大街。街区内有大众戏院、正明斋饽饽铺和长春堂药店、天成斋鞋店，联友照相馆、黑猴百货店和马聚源帽店等众多北京老字号商铺，是北京民俗市井商业的代表，与前门大街共同构成了老北京南城的标志性传统商业街区。
